Aids to Navigation is the term used for the marker posts and lights you see in the rivers and bays in our area.  We are responsible for making sure that the markers are in the correct location and are not obscured.  We also make sure that lights both on the markers and on the bridges are lit and flashing in the correct manner.

We are also responsible for updating the NOAA charts when needed.  This can be caused by pier or bridge construction or by natural forces.

If you see a problem with an Aid to Navigation and that problem presents an immediate hazard to navigation you should report it to Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach by radio on Channel 16 or by phone at (239) 463-5754.
